Você precisa fazer este teste no MySQL 5.6.23 e ver se algo mudou.

, sim, é o único caminho. Caso contrário, os valores numéricos que seguem o formato de ponto flutuante IEEE se tornam 0. Desde que apontei a solução alternativa ( dba.stackexchange.com/questions/87206/… ), no criou um tipo de dados de ponto flutuante IEEE que pode iniciar como NULL.TRUNCATE
