Ontem o Google atualizou sua página oficial do desenvolvedor com um aviso que diz

Continue usando a classe FusedLocationProviderApi e não migre para a classe FusedLocationProviderClient até que o Google Play Services versão 12.0.0 esteja disponível, que deve ser lançado no início de 2018. Usar o FusedLocationProviderClient antes da versão 12.0.0 faz com que o aplicativo cliente trave quando O Google Play Services é atualizado no dispositivo. Pedimos desculpas por qualquer inconveniente que isso possa ter causado.

Atenção Portanto, acho que devemos continuar usando o uso suspenso LocationServices.FusedLocationApiaté que o Google resolva o problema.

O aviso acabou agora. Serviços do Google Play 11.6 6 de novembro de 2017, nota de lançamento : Foi corrigido o problema FusedLocationProviderClient que ocasionalmente causava falhas quando o Google Play Services era atualizado.Acho que o Play Services não travará quando for atualizado em segundo plano. Portanto, podemos usar o novo FusedLocationProviderClientagora.

Eles precisam trabalhar para manter os exemplos adequados e atualizados. btw getLastLocation()retorna apenas a localização conhecida mais recente do dispositivo .. você pode solicitar a atualização da localização com o novo requestLocationUpdates(LocationRequest request, PendingIntent callbackIntent)método.

Sim, está obsoleto!
Aqui estão alguns pontos de que você precisará ao usar o novo FusedLocationProviderClient .

  1. importá-lo como importar com.google.android.gms.location.FusedLocationProviderClient;😅
  2. Percebi que você está implementando a interface LocationListener . No método mFusedLocationClient.requestLocationUpdates (), agora ele não leva um LocationListener como parâmetro. Você pode fornecer LocationCallback . Como esta é uma classe abstrata, você não pode implementá-la como LocationListener. Faça um método de retorno de chamada e passe-o em vez de 'this', conforme mencionado no guia do Google . importá-lo comoimport com.google.android.gms.location.LocationCallback;
  3. Com LocationCallback, você terá onLocationResult () em vez de onLocationChanged () . Ele retorna o objeto LocationResult em vez do objeto Location. Sim, foi descontinuado. FusedLocationProviderClienté mais fácil do que FusedLocationProviderApi, porque FusedLocationProviderApigeralmente requer GoogleApiClienttambém, ao qual precisamos conectar Google Play Servicemanualmente.
