Por que meu laptop é retomado imediatamente após a suspensão? [fechadas]

Parece que estou tendo algum problema com o modo de suspensão. Toda vez que tento suspender meu laptop, ele bloqueia a tela. Ou talvez ele seja suspenso com sucesso apenas para retomar apenas um instante depois. O que poderia causar esse comportamento?

Estou executando o Ubuntu 12.04 de 32 bits com o kernel 3.2.0-25 em um laptop HP dv5-1178er Pavilion (Intel Core 2 Duo).

No HP Envy dv6, o seguinte funciona na 13.10 (após a atualização do 13.04; 13.04 não apresentava problemas de suspensão) usando o acpitool (1).

Também funciona no Ubuntu 14.04, Thinkpad T431s! Depois de ler isso, suspeito que a causa raiz possa ser o HDD de backup externo - verificará se a ocorrência da coisa está vinculada ao seu uso. No meu Asus 1201N, adicionando apenas

echo US15 | sudo tee /proc/acpi/wakeup

para /etc/rc.localcorrigir o problema com a suspensão.
