após cada reinicialização, o HDMI é selecionado como dispositivo de saída. Eu sempre tenho que mudar para Fones de ouvido (que de fato são alto-falantes e não fones de ouvido). Ambos funcionam perfeitamente, mas como faço para tornar os fones de ouvido o padrão? . A interface do usuário não oferece nenhuma opção para isso.

Ainda assim, todos os dias eu arrancar essa coisa e obter um cara da raiva, quando o áudio vem do meu monitor e eu tenho que dispositivos de comutação oO

Parece que o 14.04 não tem mais esse problema, mantém os fones de ouvido selecionados entre as botas. Não estou postando isso como resposta, pois não resolve o problema 13.10. Mas como o 14.04 é LTS, você deve apenas atualizar.

Para um ajuste muito melhor de nossa configuração de áudio padrão, podemos instalar e executar o pavucontrol, que também tem uma opção para definir um dispositivo de fallback (abaixo mostrado para um fone de ouvido bluetooth):

Se isso não funcionar conforme o esperado, você pode ter um problema com o módulo switch na porta disponível carregado nas default.paconfigurações. Você pode tentar desativar este módulo .

Ele lista apenas "Áudio estéreo analógico embutido" como dispositivos de saída, então não sei o que fazer lá. Posso selecionar HDMI na guia "Configuração", mas isso não ajuda no meu problema. Eu tenho apenas um dispositivo de áudio, mas há alto-falantes e uma tela plana (via HDMI) conectados. Por padrão, o som vem da tela plana.

Na verdade, existe um módulo pulseaudio (módulo de ativação da conexão) que, quando ativado, pode fazer exatamente o que é solicitado, conforme mostrado nesta resposta . É uma resposta simples e funciona como um encanto, aparece em todas as versões do Ubuntu de 12.04 a 17.04.
