libtool instalado, mas não no caminho após a instalação

Estou tentando instalar o libtool. Parece não estar disponível mesmo após a instalação.

Qualquer ajuda valorizada.

sudo apt-get install libtool-bin

Descobri que libtool-binnão era um pacote disponível até depois sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, reiniciar, entãosudo apt-get update

No meu Ubuntu LTS, tentei

sudo apt-get install libtool

Na raiz da pasta de origem

autoconf
autoreconf --install 

feito com sucesso
