Como investigar uma redefinição aleatória na porta do cliente TCP conectada via interface de loopback a um servidor

Eu tenho um conjunto de testes que inicializa um servidor no host local e, em seguida, executa milhares de testes de estresse, que incluem iniciar e parar clientes que se conectam a esse servidor local na mesma máquina. Estou tentando encontrar o motivo de um RST enviado pelo cliente ao servidor.

Esta é a sequência de eventos:

  1. cliente inicializa SYN
  2. Servidor envia de volta SYN, ACK
  3. cliente envia RST (em vez de ACK e estabelece conexão)

Uma observação é que, em muitas ocasiões, os servidores executam cerca de 99% da CPU, embora retorne ao normal em alguns segundos / minutos.

Inicialmente, pensei que isso acontecesse porque o cliente está usando uma porta de conexão fechada anteriormente que está no estado TIME_WAIT e, portanto, quando o servidor envia um SYN, ACK nesse cliente de conexão emite RST. Embora eu estivesse cético em relação ao motivo pelo qual o cliente deveria usar uma porta no estado TIME_WAIT, mas estou usando o antigo fedora core 4 e pensei que talvez não tivesse a implementação adequada do TCP / IP :-).

Agora, não acredito que esse seja o motivo, porque todo o ajuste feito para corrigir o problema acima não ajudou a aliviar o problema. FYI a seguir estão as alterações que tentei /etc/sysctl.conf:

net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 1024     65535
net.ipv4.tcp_fin_timeout = 15
net.ipv4.tcp_rfc1337 = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_tw_reuse = 1

Mais um ponto, esse problema não é consistente. Na verdade, eu posso reproduzir esse problema somente depois de 15 a 35 ciclos de Reinicialização do servidor e execução de todos os testes do cliente.

Fiquei sem todas as razões pelas quais consigo pensar por que isso poderia estar acontecendo; então, deixe-me saber se alguém tem alguma idéia sobre o que pode estar acontecendo.

O soquete do cliente está no modo sem bloqueio? É possível que o soquete do cliente seja fechado quando o servidor aceitar? Você tem horários para esses pacotes? Um pcap talvez?

Você verifica o valor de retorno do connect()s? É possível que você faça dois sem bloqueio connect()sno mesmo soquete? É possível que alguns clientes sejam mortos ou interrompidos de alguma forma ( alarm()?) No meio de um connect()? Você pode reproduzi-lo com o cliente executando sob strace -ffou autrace?

Alguma fantasia (nfqueue, conexão limitando ...) na saída de iptables-save? Possibilidade de atingir algum limite de recurso? Quantos clientes simultâneos? Faça isso bindpara porta de origem específica?

Meu palpite seria que o estresse colocado na pilha tem uma queda de conexão no tempo limite do cliente no estado meio aberto. Essa conexão é descartada (o que significa que o aplicativo cliente deve vê-lo como a ETIMEDOUT) e, quando o syn / ack é finalmente processado pela pilha, não há mais conexões para relacioná-lo e, portanto, é redefinido. Você tentou aumentar o tamanho do backlog syn ( sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_max_syn_backlog=???)?

Só quero concluir esse segmento com a solução adotada na ausência de uma correção para a causa raiz, que eu acho que está na implementação da pilha TCP do Fedora 4. Como solução, eu simplesmente apresentei uma tentativa imediata de reconectar, caso a falha se deva ao ETIMEDOUT e o protocolo usado seja o IPV6. Isso corrigiu o problema para mim e minha equipe definitivamente, com possível risco de um atraso adicional de 3 minutos no relatório de erros em qualquer outro problema de conexão que resultasse em ETIMEDOUT. Essa não é a solução real / ideal para o problema, mas leva-nos a seguir em frente ... pois afeta apenas nosso conjunto de testes automatizados e não somos enviados ao cliente. Espero que, eventualmente, alguém que conheça bem a implementação da pilha do fedora 4 tcp / ip resolva esse mistério para sempre.
